Term Definition
Photosynthesis A processes by which plants convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into food energy (Sugar), oxygen and water.
Cellular Respiration The processes by which the chemical energy of food"molecules is released and changed into ATP.
Chloroplast An elongated cell organelle containing chlorophyll where photosynthesis takes place.
Chlorophyll A green molecule which uses light energy from sunlight to change water and carbon dioxide gas into sugar and oxygen.
Glucose The chlorophyll processes the ingredients to make glucose (plant food) and oxygen.
Mitochondria Rod-Shaped organelles with a double membrane which converts the energy stored in glucose into ATP for the cell.
Photosynthesis Equation H2O (Water) + CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) + Sun (Light) = O2 (Oxygen) + C6H12O6 (Glucose)
Carbon Dioxide Animals make the CO2 plants need for Photosynthesis
Respiration Equation O2 (Oxygen) + C6H12O6 (Glucose) = H2O (Water) + CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) + ATP (Energy)
Diffusion The movement of particles from a highly concentrated area.
Osmosis The diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane.
Active Transport It takes cellular energy to have active transport in diffusion and osmosis.
